Hello from Södermalm, Stockholm

Hammarby is known as a 'working class' club and has it's origins in Södermalm, the southern part of urban Stockholm. Founded 1897, from former being a rowing association started 1889, football was taken into the association in 1915/1918.
Hammarby Idrotts Förening ('sports' association) has several branches including, apart from Football, Icehocky, Handball, Bandy, Track and field/Atheltics, Rowing and Speedway and more.

Hammarby is well known in Sweden and Scandinavia for it's loyal supporters. We always have alot of support on our away matches and hopefully there will be a couple of hundred coming to Braga. Im looking forward to this game and hopefully I can be able to see it in Portugal.

This year, 2007, (Swedish league is from spring to autumn) we've been struggeling with playing excellent football but without scoring goals needed to win matches and the lack of goals has been to our disadvantage in the league table so far. In my opninon however we played better then the score board say. In our current squad there are quite a few who are still young and that we're 'building' for the future.

We went thru Intertoto cup to the UEFA qualifications beating Cork City(Ireland) Utrecht(Nethelands/Holland) and last Fredrikstad(Norway)

Prominent players of Hammarby squad 2007
Sebastián Eguren MF (Uruguay)
Erkan Zengin MF (Sweden)

For those who consider a visit here in the north, Stockolm may be one of the worlds most beutiful citys with water (or ice ;) )surrounding the whole town and the great scenery, especially from Södermalm with it's hills, you can see alot of the City. Unfortunatly Septemeber/october use to be quite 'gray' and dull.

Welcome to our forum!

braga2007

Is Hammarby Stadium far from airport?

There's 2 international airports in/to Stockholm.

Arlanda Airport and Skavsta Airport.

If you go with budget price flights (Ryan Air etc) you'll fly to Skavsta and with most other conventional Flight companies (AirPortugal, British Airways etc) you'll fly to Arlanda.

Arlanda <-> Stocholm City about 35 mins with bus/coach (95 SEK ~ 11 Euro) http://www.flygbussarna.se/en/default.asp
20 mins by train.(220 SEK ~25 Euro) http://www.arlandaexpress.com/

Skavsta <-> Stockholm City about 1h 40 mins by bus/coach.(130 SEK ~ 14 Euro)http://www.flygbussarna.se/en/default.asp

From Stockholm City to the Arena, Råsunda stadion (Solna Centrum Subwaystation) it's not our home ground, but where we have to play international matches,  its 15-20 mins with the subway.
