After having had a glittering season last year, Sivasspor is now on the European stage. Bülent Uygun's side holds the advantage after a 2-2 away draw and is relying on its home crowd, which will experience an unprecedented Intertoto Cup tie this Sunday

Playing its first ever game on European soil in its 41st year, Sivasspor managed to grab a valuable 2-2 draw at Montenegrin club OFK Grbalj last weekend. This weekend, the 4 Eylül Stadium readies for its first international encounter with the return leg in the Intertoto Cup second round.

Despite looking far off the kind of form that saw the team fighting for the Turkcell Super League title till the end of last season and earning fourth spot in the end, Sivasspor held on for a draw last Sunday. Goalkeeper Akýn Vardar was sent off after 30 minutes with first choice Michael Petkovic already away on international duty with Australia, but powerhouse striker Mehmet Yýldýz struck twice to carry his team, as he did many times last year.

Actually, it was a surprise that Yýldýz dubbed the "Turkish Rooney" stayed with his team. Turkish media reported numerous times that the big three in the country, Galatasaray, Fenerbahçe and Beþiktaþ, were interested in him, and even his coach Bülent Uygun said he was ready to listen to offers, while promoting him as "who gets Yýldýz wins the title" in the middle of last season but the silence was deafening. Despite the potential he is still at Sivasspor's service.

The Turkish football agenda is used to Uygun's spectacular talking habits, but now he is attracting the attention of international media apparently. Recently, European football's governing body UEFA's Web site quoted Uygun's pre-game talk for motivating his team.

"European football comes to the 4 Eylül Stadium for the first time," wrote the article. "With coach Bülent Uygun urging his team to 'play for your mother and father, your city and your country.'"

Uygun believes that his side has an excellent chance of making an impact in the Intertoto Cup, where it will face Portuguese Braga if it advances to the next round.

"We were able to keep the squad who kept up their title bid until the final two weeks of last season and were declared champions of the fans' hearts," he was quoted as saying on the Web site. "We have bolstered our squad with seven new signings. Sivasspor wants to advance through to the third round of the Intertoto and we're only focused on that. We are very ambitious about qualifying for the UEFA Cup. Therefore, we are thinking about our next opponents Braga, one of the leading clubs in Europe."

Ticket prices have been reduced this weekend to encourage fans to cheer on Sivasspor to a third-round tie against SC Braga.

Last year, Sivasspor was a team that was hard to match. Pressuring opponents in midfield and hitting them on counter attacks led by Yýldýz, the team posed many problems for its opponents. Uygun believes that it will continue.

"Thinking about the league, we will be the toughest team for our opponents just like last year," he was quoted as saying. "Now we want to build on last year's performance by winning the league. pelo que eu andei a investigar vai ser dia 19 à mesma hora que o jogo deles de hoje, 17h GMT, 19h horario local lá deles na turkia

quase 100% de certeza que irá ser transmitido pela mesma televisão que transmitiu o jogo hoje(não, não é a justin TV, é mesmo o canal lá da turkquia, que por acaso deve dar outra vez na justin.tv )

sabendo coisas com 100% eu aviso
