"Young Arrows, Green Buffaloes jostle for honours
THE KCM/FAZ Super Division rolls back to action this with joint leaders Young Arrows and Green Buffaloes jostling for honours at the summit of the table in their respective Week 19 fixtures.
Young Arrows and Buffaloes are both on 27 points from 15 games played before the league underwent a two week mid-term break.
However, the Zambia Air Force sponsored Young Arrows have a superior goal difference to Buffaloes at the top of the log.
Alfred Mulao's men are away in Chililabombwe for a date with Konkola Blades while Buffaloes host Power Dynamos at Woodlands Stadium in Lusaka.
Young Arrows will be hoping to do better than their goalless draw against 11th placed Blades in Week Four played on April 5 especially after a good run of results in the run-in to the two-week break.
Young Arrows beat both struggling Chambishi 3-0 and Nkana 2-0, inspired by goals from Kruger Mwansa, Judge Mkandawire and Chomba Ng'andwe.
Mulao will be hoping for more of the same from his prolific trio as they attempt to stay focused in a tightly contested battle for the Super Division crown.
Blades on the other hand have failed to win a single league game since May 24 when they beat Green Eagles 1-0 away in Kabwe in a Week 10 game.
Chewe Mulenga's side went on to lose three and drew two of their last five games.
At Woodlands Stadium, Buffaloes will be aiming to complete their league double over Power who they beat 3-0 at Arthur Davies in Kitwe in a Week Four meeting.
The match will be a litmus test for Power striker Francis Kombe who is the Super Division's top scorer on eight goals to try and justify his recent recall to the Zambia national soccer team.
But Buffaloes will be hoping Rueben Tembo can wield his magic again against Power after scoring a brace in the first leg to keep the Zambia Army sponsored soldiers' firm strive for top spot.
In Ndola, defending champions Zesco United begin life without inspirational midfielder Rainford Kabala who left last month to start a five-year deal with Portuguese Superliga side Sporting Braga.
Zesco could not have asked for a better way to test their prowess without Kalaba with a home game against sixth place Kabwe Warriors at Trade Fair Ground.
The two sides played out to a scoreless draw at Railway Ground in Kabwe and come into this match separated by just two points with Zesco on 25 points and Warriors on 23.
But Warriors will be wary of visiting Trade Fair Ground where Zesco are unbeaten in the league this season.
Warriors' last league visit to Zesco last season in another Week Four fixture saw them lose 2-0 to the eventual Super Division winners.
Visiting coach Mohamed Fathy will be banking on the form of teenage striker Emmanuel Mayuka to break Zesco's year and a half-long unbeaten home run.
In the rest of the Week 19 fixtures, Red Arrows host Nchanga Rangers, City of Lusaka travel to Zanaco, Nkwazi await Lusaka Dynamos while Nkana and Roan United clash in Kitwe.
In Kabwe, fourth from bottom Green Eagles await fellow promoted side and bottom placed Chambishi at Railway Grounds." in Saturday Post (http://www.postzambia.com/post-read_article.php?articleId=44077)
"Buffaloes in Power test
THE Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) Super Division today swings into action after a two-week break with tricky encounters dotted in Lusaka and the Copperbelt.
Leaders Young Arrows and Green Buffaloes face Konkola Blades and Power Dynamos respectively in Week 19 ties that could define the direction of the league title.
Arrows and Buffaloes have 27 points each but the Zambia Air Force-sponsored side have a superior goal aggregate.
Third-placed Zesco United engage Kabwe Warriors at Ndola's Trade Fair ground.
BUFFALOES vs POWER
George Lwandamina and veteran Fordson Kabole will show their coaching prowess when Buffaloes and Power clash at Woodlands Stadium in Lusaka.
Lwandamina's Buffaloes baptised Power 3-0 in the first meeting at Kitwe's Arthur Davies Stadium.
To continue moving closer to the title they last won in 1981, Buffaloes will rely on Morgan Hanjema, Rueben Tembo and international John Musukwa while captain Sekelani Mwale and Sebastian Mwansa will keep the midfield intact.
But resurgent Power with 23 points will not allow to lose to the "soldiers" for the second time.
Strikers Francis Kombe and Rotson Kilambe have the ability to tear apart the Buffaloes defence built around Sydney Lombe, Newa Mwewa, Dennis Banda and Lawrence Phiri and subsequently put the ball past custodian Mike Poto.
Crowd favourite Kennedy Mudenda, Lameck Mwale and Francis Kasonde are the other players who could carry the day for the six-time Super Division kings.
BLADES vs Y/ARROWS
The two teams are separated by 11 points on the log and Blades do not look like a team that could halt Young Arrows' cruising.
Blades have managed 16 points from 15 games.
Shaft Katuka and White Simwanza's ingenuity in midfield may create scoring chances for Judge Mkandawire, Kruger Mwansa, Lyainga Chiwanki and Chomba Ng'andwe but the two midfielders must outdo Willie Chimpinde in that department at Chililabombwe's Konkola Stadium.
But with newly-appointed technical advisor Frederick Kashimoto issuing instructions, lanky Felix Sunzu Junior might explode.
ZESCO vs WARRIORS
Champions Zesco have to beat Warriors if the title chase is to gain momentum.
However, Zesco will the creativeness of midfield genius Rainford Kalaba who is with Portuguese side Sporting Braga on a four-year contract.
Kalaba was Zambia 2007 footballer-of-the-year and Super Division top scorer.
But coach Wedson Nyirenda has enough match winners in Enock Sakala, Jonas Sakuwaha, Clifford Chipalo, Lottie Phiri, Kunda Mushota and William Chinyama.
On the other hand, Warriors striker Emmanuel Mayuka poses a threat to Zesco.
Should Siloni Jere and Felix Simukonda find space in midfield and feed Mayuka with the right passes, then Zesco should expect a tiresome day. Zesco have 25 points two better than Warriors.
RED ARROWS vs RANGERS
Lusaka's Nkoloma Stadium will come alive when rejuvenated Red Arrows entertain Nchanga Rangers.
Arrows have all to play for because victory and defeat for the top three teams will push them into joint leadership.
Skipper Stanley "Giggs" Banda, Timothy Mbewe, Chisi Mbewe and Simon Lupiya are all seasoned scorers who could not fail to dismantle the Elijah Tana-led defence.
But Tana, who has been recalled to the national team has a lot to prove that he has a lot of energy in his 33-year old legs.
Tana has on three occasions "abandoned" the defence to score vital goals for Rangers. Arrows have 24 points while Rangers have 22.
ZANACO vs CITY
The match is tricky because both City coach Fighton Simukonda and his opposite Wesley Mondo have drilled either sides.
Simukonda is a hero at Sunset Stadium having led Zanaco to two league titles in 2005 and 2006.
He knows the weaknesses of Zanaco and will instruct his charges led by Mazuba Mkandawire and Brian Lubaba to capitalise on them.
But Zanaco have a record to defend having beaten City 1-0 in the first meeting.
Ignatius Lwipa, Winstone Kalengo, Jack Chileshe, Numba Mumamba and Kennedy Nketani are experienced enough to handle the pressure from the "Yamoto" side.
Elsewhere Green Eagles face bottom of the log Chambishi at Railway ground in Kabwe, Nkwazi host Lusaka Dynamos at Lusaka's Queensmead Stadium and Nkana engage Roan United at Nkana Stadium in Kitwe." in Zambia Daily mail (http://www.daily-mail.co.zm/media/news/viewnews.cgi?category=7&id=1216450638)

Espero que não seja Kabala... mas Kalaba... ;D ;) ;D ;)

A rever.

«Egypt can fall, Kalaba
MIDFIELDER Rainford Kalaba has urged his national team colleagues to capitalise on the pressure Egypt would have in next Sunday's 2010 World Cup and Africa Cup of Nations qualifier in Cairo.
In an interview yesterday, Kalaba said Zambia have a chance of upsetting the tables.
"They are under pressure to win and in the process they will make a lot of mistakes and this will give us an opportunity to punish them," said Kalaba of Portuguese side Sporting Braga.
He said he was not intimidated to face the likes of Mohamad Aboutrika, Amr Zaki, Mido Mohamad Barakat among others.
"We have played them before so there is no need to be scared. After all they will be 11 and we will also be 11. We will take them on punch for punch," Kalaba said.
During the 2008 Africa Cup of Nations finals in Ghana, Zambia held Egypt to a 1-1 draw in the preliminary round.
Kalaba said he was enjoying top form and was looking forward to a win in Cairo.
Other teams in Group C are Algeria and Rwanda.
"It has been long since we beat Egypt and I think we have a team that could make history," he said.
Zambia last beat Egypt at the 1996 Africa Cup of Nations finals in South Africa. Zambia under Dane Roald Poulsen won 3-1 in the quarter-finals.
Zambia coach Herve Renard has summoned 16 professionals for the clash against Egypt.
Among the foreign based players are captain Christopher Katongo (Arminia Bielefeld, Germany), Felix Katongo, Jacob Mulenga and Stopila Sunzu (Berrichone Chateauroux, France) and Emmanuel Mayuka (Tel Aviv, Israel).
Meanwhile, FilGoal.com reports that Egypt assistant coach Shawky Gharib said Zambia and Rwanda have the ability to jeopardise the Pharaohs' chances of securing a 2010 World Cup spot.
"I believe we were drawn in a balanced group where all teams have equal chances of making it to the World Cup. Algeria is a team with great history, but I don't think they will be our sole competitors," Gharib said.
Gharib is convinced that unlike Algeria, both Zambia and Rwanda will play their qualifiers without any pressure as no one expects them to reach the World Cup.
"Zambia and Rwanda are not fighting for their reputation and it will not be considered a failure if they don't qualify.
"Smaller teams like these don't have a particular style of play and it can be very difficult to play against them," he said.»
